Karla-de-la-Torre-Realtor

My name is Karla De La Torre and I was born and raised in Miami. A first-generation Cuban-American and second-generation Realtor, I was immersed in South Florida’s real estate market since before I could talk, receiving hands-on experience from watching my mother show houses, counsel clients, and close sales. Now a licensed agent myself, I am ready to make my mark on the South Florida landscape!

Karla, could you share why did you decide to become a Real Estate professional?

The funny thing is that at first, I did not think that real estate was for me. My mother always wanted me to get my license, and I feel it’s our instinct to push against what our parents want for us, so I resisted for a long time. Now I’m kicking myself thinking of all that time wasted! The truth is that real-estate was always in my blood, and as soon as I dipped my foot into the business, I was— as we Realtors love to say— SOLD!

What are the aspects you love the most about your work?

Something I really love and take a lot of pride in is helping people accomplish a huge milestone. Whether I’m working with first time buyers or experienced investors, purchasing property is always a big deal and there are so many emotions behind every transaction. At the end of the day I feel so satisfied knowing that the new home or retail space I just sold is going to be the location where someone fulfills their dream.

I also love that it never gets boring: the market is always evolving, and in South Florida we truly have it all, from established neighborhoods with history and character too exciting new developments from some of the world’s most talented architects. There is something for everyone and I love playing matchmaker to find the perfect deal for my clients.

What are the hardships you had to go through to succeed in your industry?

I don’t look at them as hardships — they’re opportunities to learn and grow. Coming into such an established industry as a young woman is intimidating and I can’t say that I don’t worry about gaining respect and credibility. However, I know my worth and I carry myself with that confidence. I let my professional attitude and productive streak set the tone and people know I mean business.

How do you make a difference through your work in your community?

I truly care about each and every single individual and I pour my heart and soul into everything I do. I treat everyone equally whether you are leasing an apartment or purchasing a million-dollar property. Everyone deserves an excellent standard of service and people will recognize and respect when you are genuine. Being kind never goes out of style.

What are your goals as a professional and what are you currently doing to you making them become a reality?

My goal is always to take my career to the next level. What that means for me right now is stepping beyond my comfort zone and increasing my name recognition within the industry, as well as studying to obtain my Broker’s license. Every part of this industry is so interesting to me and I’m looking forward to dipping my toes into exciting new areas.

Could you give people wanting to explore the real estate industry an insight on how to become successful?

Yes, do it! Just be prepared to give it everything you have and you are guaranteed to love what you do. People can feel energies and they know when you’re being genuine. The only way to become successful at something is by doing what you love. Chase the impact of helping people change their lives and the success will follow.
