I am convinced that the most important conquest is the conquest of oneself.  When you’re able to conquer yourself, your duality, your fears and everything else; then the divine essence of the creator starts to show through you. This is a gift we all have and we must learn to cultivate it.

Roberto Palazuelos – Diamante Negro

Roberto, most people know you as an actor, how did you evolve to become a businessman and bring Tulum to its next level?

I first arrived in Tulum around 25 years ago. I first came to the hotel Diamante K where we are now and they sold it to me. It was a smaller Inn, it only had about nine cabins and little by little we kept adding more. From this point on I started to grow really quickly as a business owner.

The beaches in Tulum are beautiful so back then I couldn’t resist to purchase them because they were really affordable. A piece of beachfront land that today is valued at $30 Million USD, back then it was only about $300 thousand dollars.

So that’s what took me from having the vision to becoming a successful real estate investor in Tulum. In fact, a lot of people laughed at me saying this was a destination for “hippies” and things of that nature. Soon after I partnered with a group of businessmen and we started to develop what Tulum is today.

We raised the rates of the hotels and worked a lot to change the image of this paradise. I even became the president of the hoteliers in Tulum. Today we are proud to say we are a high-end destination just like Ibiza and Bora Bora.

We see you’re very involved in bringing back the cultural aspect of Tulum. What was your inspiration for you to become the promoter of our traditions in Mexico?

I’m not only a promoter of culture here but also of nature. Tulum is a very powerful energy portal where both “good and evil” prevail and they are both very present. It is said Tulum is the entrance to the underworld and the higher realms. So here there are low vibrational frequencies but also very elevated ones.

The concentration of “Prana” here is very powerful. This is the only Maya city in front of the ocean in the entire American continent. There are other small ruins in Playa del Carmen near here but there are only ruins and not a city. Tulum’s original name was Zama meaning “dawn”; the city of the dawn. So I strongly recommend to wake up early and see the sun rising, it’s truly magical.

You talk about energy portals and that says a lot about your level of consciousness. Did you know about energy or did you experience these energies here in Tulum for the first time?

I feel like I was brought here for a higher purpose. I experienced a spiritual awakening from a very young age. I am very involved with the concept of I AM; I am here, I am there, I am everywhere. I AM Wisdom, I AM Power, I Am the resurrection and I AM life.

We are all children of the same source, we are all ONE. So when you start to see the animals, other people and nature as the same source as one with you, then you start to align with the frequency of the universe.

So if I were to ask you one simple word after I AM, what would you say?

I AM Love. But also; I AM Light, I AM forgiveness, I AM Abundance, I AM Protection. You see? In the past people would pray to a God and ask for protection but the wisdom of the I AM does not look for a God outside of us; on the contrary, it finds the God within and knows him/herself as one with this source. So instead of saying “Father forgive me” you say “I am forgiveness” and I forgive myself.

It is said that one of the hardest things there are is to forgive yourself. We go around life carrying stuff and we don’t feel worthy of receiving because we don’t forgive ourselves.

Very well said.  We understand you have a new project on the works. Could you tell us more about it?

Yes, we are working on a new hotel called “NAIA” like the sculpture by the great artist Enrique Cabrera”. Because of the global situation this year we fell back but we are starting development in 2021. We are planning to start construction in January to hopefully open Naia Hotel sometime in 2023.

What is the message you could share with the new generations coming behind you? How do you achieve the mastery of the self?

You have everything within you to be successful. However; if you don’t have the good intention of “the dharma” in your life; it would be very difficult to become successful. So what I suggest is not to seek for anything outside of yourself. Just remember that only your good actions will take you where you want to be.
