Chechy Muskus – Fashionista & Stylist.
A Good look is not achieved by following trends but by authenticity” “I am a free, brave and a powerful woman” My contract is to empower myself daily with the hand of God who guides me in all I do with love, passion and dedication.
I am the creator of my own brand called: “Prive Concepts”, where trends & fashion are created for women who want highlight today’s trends in fashion. My brand represents a classic style and more daring and trendy look that takes care of the personality of each of my clients who contact me for fashion advice.
I was born in a small town on the Colombian coast where fashion was a taboo, and since I was a child, my fashion inclination was one of my biggest dreams and a great passion for style. Breaking paradigms in a retrograde and backward society inspired me to continue my dream of making fashion a lifestyle for women who wanted to look different, so that’s how I decided to open the first boutique with my own brand in Colombia. And at the same time, I also brought well known franchises in the fashion industry that were the most relevant during that time.
My vision was to expand my dream to other cities and thus support women who wanted to dress according to the trends of the year and wanting to look different from the traditional “fashion”.
I migrated to the United States to live the American dream like every immigrant but I met a different situation than I expected. I dedicated myself to work and live day by day, giving priority to my family and forgetting my dreams for many years. But dreams are never forgotten, they were always present and upon waking up in a new stage of my life they were bigger than the circumstances that I was living and were one of my engines that drove again to build my profession. I’m just grateful to God because he always holds me by his hand and helps me move forward with my life projects.
How do you balance your professional life with the personal?
I would just tell him I love him for him, I would tell him: “You never disappointed me. As a father you did exactly what you were supposed to do” because everything he did worked for me to be the best woman in my life today. He literally gave me the best lessons in life. He was the reason I found my purpose. So even though he wasn’t in my life, he gave me the most internal gifts. My passion. I think this would be very humbling for him because he did love me, he just didn’t know how to show it in a healthy way.
I feel women are more inclined to work with other women rather than to work with men, can you give us your opinion on why?
As Mother and Businesswoman I rely on tools that allow me to balance my life both personally and professionally. One of them is to work with an agenda to manage my time and set my priorities: God, my children, me as a woman and my company. I organize my agenda weekly and according to priorities I set schedules based on how much quality time I can dedicate to each task and personal appointments.
I also set simple actions like exercising to help me connect with myself and of course, quality time to spend with my sons. I also take many days off to connect with God are other personal things that are important to me.
As a woman leader, what has been the most difficult barrier in your career?
I wouldn’t call them barriers, but rather circumstances. A successful woman is the one who leads with passion and therefore, as a woman leader, I must be bigger than the circumstances. One of the circumstances that I have lived through my career has been to support women who don’t love themselves and neglect their appearance thus ceasing to be beautiful women from both inside and out. My true mission in the world is to empower and inspire women to look and feel like Goddesses.
Who inspired you to make the woman you are today and why?
One of the things that I thank God the most is to have giving me the gift to be passionate about fashion. From the moment that I became a fashion advisor for my friends, I felt I was contributing not only to make them look great, but also to feel beautiful and empowered. I can tell you that who inspire me the most in life are women, The brave women, the hard working women, housewives, the entrepreneur women, empowered women who love their “flaws” and virtues that make them so unique and special.
Have you ever experienced resistance when trying to lead men?
I have never experienced resistance when guiding men. I identify more with women for obvious reasons but I love helping men in their fashion evolution as well. I feel more empathy for women because I create long lasting relationships with them as I advise them and dress them. As a man, I can only tell you how great you look and how good you smell (lol).
How do you differ from other women in the same industry?
I am a versatile woman and I always find the perfect look for every woman who comes to me. I always look for the uniqueness of each person so I can accentuate their best features. My perception of who every woman is and her identity, is what makes me different. I always look for their attributes so they reflect, express and feel great with what they are wearing.
What advice would you give to the next generation of women leaders?
The best advice I can give them is to be authentic and to maintain their essence as women. Women who focus on what they really want and continue working to achieve their dreams, is what makes them have clear objectives and make them come true. Brave women who have a clear mission in life are never afraid to make “mistakes”.
Dear women, know that it is not enough to say “I am an empowered woman!” Be aware that this virtue must begin from the inside in order to transform the outside. Never stop empowering yourselves and each other whether at home, at work or in any situation you are ever involved.
